Wizard101 Gardening

What are the best Plants in Wizard101 for PvP? Gardening is a great way to stock up on Mega-Snacks, Treasure Cards, and Reagents that you can use for training your pet, crafting PvP gear, and filling your side deck.

There are around 80 different plants available from gardening vendors, the Crowns shop, and as drops from battles throughout the game. Here’s our list of recommendations for the Top Ten Best Plants for PvP. Enjoy!

What’s Great About this Plant: Evil Magma Peas, or EMP’s as they are often called, are hands-down the best plants for Rank 9 Mega-Snacks. They grow quickly with all of their “likes” and their medium plot size means you can fits lots of them in your garden.

Drawbacks: This is a Crowns plant, with each seed costing 1250 Crowns. They do drop from bosses in Avalon, but their drop rate is so low that it’s nearly impossible to farm for them. The good news? They are regularly on sale in the Crowns Shop, so keep an eye out for special deals on this plant!

Plant Facts:

Cost: 1250 Crowns(Crown Shop)

Plot: Medium

Gardener Level: 4

Re-seeds at Elder

What’s Great About this Plant:In addition to Rank 9 Mega-Snacks when they are Elder, Couch Potatoes drop awesome “regular” snacks and lots of treasure cards in their normal harvests. They are super-easy to care for and only require a little energy (only about 35 Energy per day), so even your low-level wizards can manage a CP garden. The best part? You can easily farm for them by fighting mobs in Grizzleheim, so there is no need to spend Crowns on them. 🙂

Drawbacks: This is a Crowns plant, with each seed costing 1500 Crowns, but we recommend you farm for them instead. If you want to spend Crowns on seeds, try EMP’s. The only other drawback is that they require a large plot, so they can take up a lot of real estate (you can’t grow these in your Dorm Room!)

Cost: 1500 Crowns (Crown Shop)

Plot: Large

Gardener Level: 3

Re-seeds at Elder

What’s Great About this Plant: Deadly Helephant Ears drop Rank 8 Mega-Snacks at Elder and lots of treasure cards at regular harvest, making them an all-around useful plant for gold and snacks. They drop regularly from mobs and bosses, so you don’t have to pay Crowns for this plant if you are a dedicated quester or farmer.

Drawbacks: This is a Crowns plant, with each seed costing 750 Crowns. They are not quite as awesome as EMP’s and CP’s, but if you receive them as drops while questing they are definitely worth planting.

Best Plants for PvP (Wizard101) (2)Plant Facts:

Cost: 750 Crowns

Plot: Medium

Gardener Level: 2

Re-seeds at Elder

What’s Great About this Plant:The Sword Fern is a relatively new plant but it’s already shaping up to be a contender for Evil Magma Peas as a source for Rank 8 & 9 Mega-Snacks. In addition, they are a wonderful source of treasure card, dropping all the school Blades plus Elemental Blade, Spirit Blade, and Sharpened Blade TC’s. They even drop housing items at elder, including one of its own “likes” (the Sword Tree)!

Drawbacks: This is a Crowns plant, with each seed costing 1500 Crowns. They only drop from Ghost Dog (Shadow) and Young Morganthe, so there is no practical way to farm them.

What’s Great About this Plant:It’s not an exaggeration to say that Prickly Bears were, at one time, the most popular plant to garden because the seeds can be purchased for Gold and they drop Rank 8 Mega-Snacks at regular and Elder harvests. Even today, many seasoned gardeners still maintain PBC gardens because they are an excellent source of snacks and gold. If you’re looking for an inexpensive garden that pays you back a hundred-fold, plant some Prickly’s!

Drawbacks:There really aren’t any drawbacks to this plant except that most “serious” gardeners have moved on to EMP and CP gardens. You do need a gardening rank of level 5 to plant them, so new gardeners have a little work to do before they can enjoy a PBC garden.

Best Plants for PvP (Wizard101) (3)Plant Facts:

Cost: Gold (Bazaar)

Plot: Medium Enchanted

Gardener Level:5

Drops seeds at regular and elder harvests.

What’s Great About this Plant:If you want a garden that regularly pumps out gold, snacks, and treasure cards, then Fickle Pickles are the plant for you. The Sour Fickle Pickle is great for new gardeners because they can be bought for Gold, only require small plots, and drop all kinds of goodies. Occasionally, you’ll receive an Extraordinary or Colossal treasure card for your PvP decks.

Drawbacks:Pickles are very needy plants, so be sure to use a high level wizard with lots of energy to garden them. Their drops are varied, so if you are looking for a particular drop it can take a lot of gardening to get the one you want! They may seem to cost a lot of Gold for the initial purchase, but they re-seed and pay off in the long run!

What’s Great About this Plant:The Red Bell Pepper is available for Gold in the Bazaar and is a gardening source for Amber. It usually attracts a Pixie and drops lots of treasure cards and snacks, including Dr. Jalapeno which gives 10 Pet XP. Snacks such as Dr. Jalapeno are a great way to train pets to teen and adult.

Drawbacks:They are hard to find in the Bazaar, but the biggest drawback is they they don’t re-seed! With the launch of Aquila there are other, easier sources for Amber so it’s no longer necessary to garden for it. 🙂

Plant Facts:

Cost: Gold (Bazaar)

Plot: Medium

Gardener Level:4

Does NOT Re-Seed

What’s Great About this Plant:The Honeysickle plant is available for Gold in the Bazaar at level 1, so it’s a great starter plant. It drops treasure cards blades for all Schools, plus Elemental and Spirit Blades. Not bad for a cheap, easy-to-garden plant! 🙂

Drawbacks:Unfortunately, these do not re-seed and can be difficult to find in the Bazaar. You really only want to garden Honeysickle if you are looking for treasure Blades for you or your teammates.

Best Plants for PvP (Wizard101) (5)Plant Facts:

Cost: Gold (Bazaar)

Plot: Medium

Gardener Level:1

Does NOT Re-Seed

What’s Great About this Plant:The Ivy League is a complicated plant (see below), but it’s a great source for Triage, Sacrifice, and Availing Hands treasure cards. Triage TC is a highly desired card in many PvP side decks, and this is one of the few sources of it.

Drawbacks:This plant costs 1250 Crowns and is very slow-growing. It isn’t advisable to put it in the same garden with Couch Potatoes or Evil Magma Peas because itDislikes some plants that they Like – a very complicated plant, indeed! However, players dedicated to gardening for Triage TC’s will find a spot for them, somewhere.

What’s Great About this Plant:True to its name, the Sunion drops sun-related treasure cards such as the rare SuperNova TC. It also drops Extraordinary and Colossal TC’s which are stronger than their trained counterparts, making the Sunion a plant for PvP players who want to maximize their side decks.

Drawbacks:Similar to the Ivy League, this plant is best suited for TC collectors or the elite PvP crowd. Its main attraction are those rare treasure cards which will give players that little edge in their PvP game.

Best Plant to Attract a Pixie

Looking for a plant that is easy to grow and attracts a Pixie? Look no further that the Tiger Lily!

I usually plant two Tiger Lilies in my gardens, let them reach maturity, and then only tend them when they being to wilt. Inevitably they will have a Pixie on them that my other plants will recognize as a Like. Tiger Lilies use only a small plot, so I can easily sneak them into the edge of the garden where they take up very little space.
