“Wat voor auto is dat nu?”, zo hoorden we geregeld tijdens een week lang rijden in de Infiniti Q30 1.5d. Deze vraag legt de vinger direct op de zere plek. Infiniti timmert in Europa hard aan de weg om meer bekendheid te krijgen, maar vooralsnog gaat dat langzaam. Kan de nieuwe Q30 daarin verbetering brengen?
C-segment
Het C-segment is in Europa hét segment waar je actief moet zijn als autofabrikant. Lange tijd was Infiniti afwezig in het C-segment en opereerde het alleen in segmenten daarboven. Met de Q30 waagt Nissans premiummerk Infiniti een serieuze poging. Het merkgaatmet beproefde techniek in de aanval. De Q30 staat immers op het MFA-platform van Mercedes-Benz. De Duitse autobouwer produceert op deze architectuur de A-Klasse, B-Klasse, CLA en GLA. Ook gebruikt Infiniti motoren die doorNissan en Mercedes-Benz samen zijn ontwikkeld.
Atletisch en chique maatpak
De Infiniti Q30 is meer een crossover dan een hatchback. Hij heeft dan ook de meeste overeenkomsten met een Mercedes-Benz GLA. Infiniti geeft de Q30 een atletisch en chique maatpak met een onderscheidend design enbijzondere details. En dat wordt niet alleen door de eigenaar zelf opgemerkt. In het dagelijkse verkeer trekt de Q30 met regelmaat de aandacht van medeweggebruikers. Het is een échte nekkendraaier.
1.5d heeft fijne eigenschappen
We zijn op pad met een 1.5d. Met een vermogen van 80 kW (109 pk) lijkt het misschien behelpen, maar door het relatief lage wagengewicht van zo’n 1.380 kilogram maakt de Q30 1.5d meer dan voldoende tempo om in het dagelijkse verkeer mee te komen. Fijne eigenschap van het blok is het koppel van 260 Nm dat al tussen 1.750 en 2.500 tpm voorhanden is. Schakellui rijden met een handbak is daarmee prima te doen. Optioneel is de krachtbron overigens ook leverbaar met een zeventraps automaat met dubbele koppeling.
Wie de output van de 1.5d toch te ondermaats vindt, kan altijd nog gaan voor een 2.2d met 125 kW (170 pk) en 350 Nm of voor een 1.6T benzinemotor met 115 kW (156 pk) of een 2.0T met155 kW (211 pk).Zuinig is de 1.5d zeker. De fabrieksopgave van 3,9 l/100 km (NEDC-gegevens) is onrealistisch, maar over een afstand van ongeveer 1.100 kilometer noteerden we wel een gemiddelde van 4,8 l/100 km. En dat mag gerust netjes worden genoemd. De zestraps handbak schakelt trefzeker en met precisie.
Interieurafwerking van hoog niveau
De afwerking van het interieur is bovengemiddeld goed. Het is een onderdelenmix van Infiniti en Mercedes-Benz, maar dat stoort niet. Deze uitvoering heeft zelfs alcantara hemelbekleding en leder met chique stiksels op het dashboard, iets wat niet vanzelfsprekend is in het C-segment. Aan de rechterzijde van het stuurwiel ontbreekt een hendel voor de bediening van de ruitenwissers. Alle functies zijn ondergebracht in één hendel aan de linkerkant. Daaronder plaatst het merk een vrij lange cruisecontrolehendel die eigenlijk te groot is, waardoor je met regelmaat de cruisecontrole aantikt in plaats van de richtingaanwijzer.
Menu’s met submenu’s
De werking van het multimediasysteem vraagt in het begin wat gewenning. Sommige functies van de navigatie, zoals recent bezochte locaties, zijn ondergebracht onder een submenu, waardoor je in het begin even moet zoeken. De bediening van het systeem verloopt via een draaiknop met druktoetsen op de middentunnel of met het touchscreen. Dat gaat allemaal heel intuïtief. Tijdens het rijden trekt de verkeersbordenherkenning onze aandacht. Het systeem is heel enthousiast. Tijdens het rijden op wegen worden zelfs de borden op de parallelwegen opgemerkt, terwijl de auto niet daar rijdt. Allemaal niet heel storend, maar wel opvallend.
Comfortabel
Het onderstel van de Q30 is stevig geveerd, maar wel lekker comfortabel waardoor de Q30 zowel tijdens kortere als langere afstanden in zijn element is.Kleine oneffenheden in het wegdek worden mooi weggepoetst. De besturing gaat met gevoel en is lekker direct. Combineer al die goede eigenschappen met een onderscheidend uiterlijk en Infiniti heeft met de Q30 een ijzersterk aanbod in huis. Zeker voor iemand die wat anders zoektdan de Duitse hatchbacks of SUV’s die nu doorgaans het straatbeeld vullen. Met een Q30 ben je onderscheidend bezig. En willen we dat tegenwoordig allemaal niet?
De Infiniti Q30 is leverbaar vanaf 29.340 euro voor de 1.6T. Dieselen kan vanaf 30.750 euro. Het testexemplaar betreft een Q30 1.5d Premium Tech met een prijskaartje vanaf 37.130 euro die met wat opties als het navigatiesysteem met touchscreen, 19-inch lichtmetaal en een Safety Pack 43.628 euro kost.
