Peptides are biomolecules composed of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. These chains can be short (oligopeptide) or long (polypeptide), with their sizes ranging from just a few amino acids to several dozen. The sequence of amino acids in a peptide determines its unique properties and functions. Peptides can be found in various tissues and organs throughout the human body and are involved in numerous physiological processes.

Proteins with amino acid repeats constitute a rapidly evolvable and human-specific essentialomeWhy are rapidly evolvable proteins with amino acid hom*orepeats enriched in the functionally conserved essential proteins imperative for organismal survival? The researchers show that human essential proteins with hom*orepeats aid crosstalk across biological processes, have distinct regulatory functions, potentially facilitate rapid adaptability, and influence human-specific embryonic and brain development.#sciencenewshighlights #ScienceMissionhttps://lnkd.in/gaDPdRgA

The structure of UCP1, a key metabolism protein, is available.UCP1, a proton channel, is a key protein in the control of metabolism and maybe a tempting target. In an open state UCP1 allows protons directly in the mitochondrial matrix, thus protons bypass the ATPsynthase complex and no energy (ATP) is produced so despite degrading metabolites the mitochondria does not produce energy (ATP). It is tempting to imagine that activation of this channel by a compound could be an efficient way to engage obesity (assuming this channel possesses druggable pockets). Having a structure allows a fine functional understanding and may open the way for structure based drug design. On the technical level, the small size (32kDa) of the target makes these cryo-EM structures even more remarkable and, once again, nanobodies did show their usefulness.Kang and Chen (Nature 620 p226, PDB: 8hbv, 8hbw & 8j1w).Jones et al. The role of dihydropyridine in feed - antioxidant effectDihydropyridine has antioxidant effects, which can inhibit the oxidation of biofilms in the body, increase the activity of 6-phosphoglucosidase in the biofilm, stabilize tissue cells, and thus produce certain functions of the natural antioxidant VE.Dihydropyridine and terminal oxidase cytochrome P-450 can combine to form a complex, thus significantly inhibiting NADPH cytochrome C reductase activity. Continuous administration of dihydropyridine has no effect on Microsome enzymes.

Pathology – Focus Topics - Iron The first in the Focus Topics Series – we start with the all-important topic of iron. Without this important mineral, life would cease to exist, so knowing about how we get Iron, absorb it and utilise it is central to clinical practice. This session explain the pitfalls with iron metabolism and goes on to explain how to read and interpret iron studies and FBC (Full Blood Count) and finally goes through the many different types of anaemias. What’s covered – •Deficiency – Who’s at risk? •Physical Exams / Iron absorption & inhibition •Drugs & Iron Interference •Iron Supplements – forms of Iron + minerals & vitamins that help & hinder •Iron studies – serum iron, transferrin, transferrin saturation, ferritin + hemochromatosis•FBC – working through the analytes •Types of Anaemias Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gdc4--h6

NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) is a compound that has been studied for its potential benefits in cellular energy production and mitochondrial function. Mitochondria are often referred to as the powerhouses of the cell because they generate energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). NMN is a precursor to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), a coenzyme that plays a crucial role in cellular energy metabolism.By supporting NAD+ levels, NMN may enhance mitochondrial function, leading to increased energy production within cells. This can potentially result in higher overall energy levels. Additionally, NMN's activation of proteins involved in stress response pathways, such as sirtuins, could indirectly help reduce fatigue by improving cellular resilience to stressors. If you are seeking NMN sources, contact Miso today!#nmn #antiaging #skincare #bulknmn https://lnkd.in/gV5fWGnB

Annatto-GG™ 300 is a unique formula that delivers an impressive 300 mg of trans-geranylgeraniol (GG) per serving. Geranylgeraniol is an important compound that plays critical roles in human physiology and biochemistry. GG is involved in endogenous CoQ10 production, healthy muscle and bone function, steroid hormone regulation, and cellular energy production. This product features GG-Gold®, a patented form of GG extracted from the seeds of the annatto (Bixa orellana) plant. By introducing an external source of GG, Annatto-GG™ 300 may help compensate for the natural decline in GG synthesis during the aging process, in addition to the decreased production of GG associated with certain commonly used medications.Healthy Ageing ❤️- Add this product to your range through INL Asia!Learn more about at www.inl.asia#dfh #designsforhealth #healthyageing #musclefunction #hkhealth #practitioners #hkpractitioners #supplements #natural #melatonin #hklifestyle

Glycolysis-derived alanine from glia fuels neuronal mitochondria for memoryRole of glucose for energy (ATP) production during neuronal activation and cognitive processes is still not understood completely. In this study, researchers discover a glia-to-neuron alanine transfer involving alanine aminotransferase that sustains memory formation. Following associative conditioning, glycolysis in glial cells produces alanine, which is back-converted into pyruvate in cholinergic neurons of the olfactory memory center to uphold their increased mitochondrial needs. Thus, alanine could be an alternative to lactate in cholinergic systems. In addition, a dedicated glial glucose transporter imports glucose specifically for long-term memory, by directly transferring it to neurons for use by the pentose phosphate pathway. These results indicate in vivo the compartmentalization of glucose metabolism between neurons and glial cells during memory formation.#sciencenewshighlights #ScienceMissionhttps://lnkd.in/gMD9SGYfhttps://lnkd.in/gUf8W6gK
