Destiny 2 Prismatic Hunter Builds, Guides, and What We Know So Far (2024)

How to Play Prismatic Hunter in Destiny 2

With The Final Shape expansion, a significant milestone in the Destiny 2 universe right around the corner, a brand new subclass awaits us.

Prismatic will allow us to mix and match abilities and aspects from darkness and light subclasses in ways we’ve never considered.

Today, we’re going to dive into the Prismatic Hunter subclass and even give you some fantastic ideas on how to put all the new pieces together!

Prismatic Hunter Supers

All the Prismatic subclasses in Destiny 2 were given extraordinary abilities to combine, and Hunters have been blessed with some of the most powerful. With access to five amazing Supers, Hunters are poised to dominate the battlefield and take on any challenge with confidence.

First off is the all-new Storm’s Edge. Storm’s Edge will blink you to wherever you’re looking, and then you essentially Bladedance, spinning around and unleashing a large Arc shockwave as you do. Afterward, you can blink and attack two more times. It will be excellent for add clear and even better in PvP.

The classic Golden Gun: Marksman is also being added to the Prismatic Hunter arsenal. Great for dealing with Champions, minibosses, and bosses alike!

Next, we have Shadowshot: Deadfall, the best of the two tethers and excellent in any activity.

The only options for Strand and Stasis were the only two available supers—Silence & Squall and Silkstrike. These are two excellent Supers for PvP and lower-end PvE.

Upon unlocking Prismatic for your Hunter, Golden Gun, and Silence & Squall will be available immediately.

Prismatic Hunter Aspects

Before I go over the Aspects Prismatic Hunters have at their disposal, there is a crucial piece of information you all need to be aware of. All Prismatic Aspects will now work with other subclass keywords. For example, Stylish Executioner will activate on killing any debuffed enemy, not just Void-weakened targets!

The first is the new Arc Hunter Aspect, Ascension. When Ascension is activated, you’ll twirl your Arc Staff in the air, sending you up high and Amplifying yourself and your nearby teammates!

Gunpowder Gamble is also on the list of Prismatic Hunter Aspects. Gunpowder Gamble should work with either which subclass element your super is or any element. That information isn’t available as of yet. Nonetheless, it’s always been a fantastic PvE Aspect!

Winter’s Shroud will also be at your disposal, and with it about to receive a buff, I will be using it often on Prismatic Hunter. At launch, slowing targets with Winter’s Shroud will briefly improve your Class ability regeneration rate and grant PvE damage reduction when activated. Winter’s Shroud will be available on Prismatic Hunter as soon as you unlock the subclass!

Next, we have the infamous Threaded Specter. What was once an absolute problem in PvP may prove to be an excellent Aspect for PvE. Try pairing it with Winter’s Shroud!

The final Aspect Prismatic Hunters will be able to utilize is Stylish Executioner. This aspect will also be available as soon as you unlock Prismatic! Again, it will work with other elemental debuffs.

Prismatic Hunter Abilities

Class Abilities (All are available immediately)

Upon receiving the Prismatic subclass, you will have access to all 3 of the Hunter class abilities: Marksman’s Dodge, Gambler’s Dodge, and Acrobat’s Dodge.

Melee Abilities

Combination Blow is one of the most exciting additions to the Prismatic Hunter subclass. The possibilities will be endless with a melee ability of this caliber coupled with Gambler’s Dodge.

Knife Trick is also an option you’ll have as a Prismatic Hunter. How will it fare without the Knock ‘Em Down aspect? Only time will tell. You will receive this melee ability with Prismatic!

The final melee ability that is unlocked alongside Prismatic is Withering Blade. Given that you have two melee charges with this ability and that they slow on impact, it will pair very well with Stylish Executioner.

Threaded Spike is another excellent addition! Severing enemies on demand will always be incredibly useful in any activity!

Lastly, we have Snare Bomb. This ability probably won’t see a slew of usage at launch. It doesn’t retain much viability from previous seasons without the Vanish in Smoke Aspect.

Grenade Abilities

First on the list is the Arcbolt Grenade. These will receive a significant damage buff when The Final Shape launches, which is a much-needed buff!

One grenade you’ll be able to use as soon as you unlock Prismatic for your Hunter is the Swarn Grenade. These will be getting a slight tracking buff, a duration buff, and a 20% PvE damage increase!

A Stasis Hunter staple, the Duskfield Grenade, will be in the arsenal alongside the other fantastic grenades. Paired with some of the new Prismatic Hunter Fragments, this will likely be a frequently used grenade. This grenade will also be immediately available on Prismatic.

While it is unfortunate Prismatic Titans will not have access to it, Hunters will be able to use the Grapple ability. The movement from Grapple can be employed in just about any activity when mastered.

The final grenade ability accessible to Prismatic Hunters is going to be the Magnetic Grenade. These will likely have a quick cooldown and may be very useful in any content!

Prismatic Hunter Transcendence

Transcendence is a brand new feature coming with The Final Shape. When using Prismatic, you will have two meters above your Super meter. One side fills when you deal Light damage or debuffs, the other with Darkness damage and debuffs. Note that dealing Kinetic damage will fill both bars! When both are full, you’ll be able to Transcend.

When you do so, you’ll be able to use a brand new grenade that deals Light and Darkness damage, and for hunters, that is the Hailfire Spike. This device can be thrown and will attach to enemies or objects. When it detonates, it unleashes a slowing storm, then explodes, causing ignitions with a scorching cyclone. It may just be Conditional Finality in a can, but it does some serious work!

Transcendence also grants you a hefty increase to grenade and melee regen time and a weapon damage buff that stacks with other damage buffs! Dealing melee damage while Transcendent will increase your grenade regen time even more, and vice versa. Lastly, it provides you with a lovely damage reduction!
